S-Carb® is WE Soda's proprietary feed grade sodium sesquicarbonate (Na2CO3, NaHCO3, 2H2O) – a high purity, free-flowing mineral buffer derived from trona ore and produced exclusively by WE Soda in Green River, Wyoming.
With over 25 years of field and research history, it is a well-established and extensively studied ingredient in dairy cattle and poultry nutrition, and is a highly effective dietary buffer. WE Soda also provides a feed grade sodium bicarbonate at our plant in Türkiye.
How is S-Carb® used?
In dairy cattle S-Carb® maintains optimal rumen pH and reduces the risk of sub-acute rumen acidosis in high producing cows on high concentrate rations. Its higher sodium content (30.4% vs ~27% in sodium bicarbonate) and carbonate concentration means it outperforms equal inclusion rates of bicarb, supporting feed intake, fiber digestibility and milk fat levels. In poultry, S-Carb® optimises dietary electrolyte balance by adding sodium without the accompanying chloride that comes with salt – improving performance under heat stress, growth in broilers, and eggshell quality in layers.
Non-hygroscopic and free-flowing, S-Carb® is also easier to handle than sodium bicarbonate with less dust and reduced caking in feed equipment.
End uses
Rumen buffer for dairy and beef cattle
S-Carb® supports the diets of lactating dairy cattle. It helps reduce metabolic disease and increase milk production.
